When the sun goes down in Singapore, the action starts happening in Singapore’s rooftop bars. Whether it is with your work crowd, your school’s happy hour group, or your best mates, everyone enjoys a great rooftop bar. To top it off, the views can be astounding.
Here are my picks for the five best places to have a drink under the stars:
Loof
The next time you are planning a happy hour in the CBD, stop by Loof, one of my favorite places for happy hour. It’s cool, funky vibe sets a great mood, and their southeast asian style cocktail menu and appetizers are really worth trying. Try the Loof Bubble Tea or the Kaya Lumpur for local flair cocktails. If you’re planning a party or happy hour for a large group of people, contact them in advance and they can work with your group. Located on top of Odeon Towers, the view of Raffles Hotel is fantastic.
LeVeL 33
If craft beers are more your style, and you yearn for a sophisticated brewpub experience, you can’t go wrong with LeVeL33. Dubbed as the world’s highest craft brewery, the views of Marina Bay and the Singapore skyline are some of the best we’ve found. Situated atop Marina Bay Financial Center, this rooftop bar will knock your socks off with its freshly brewed beers and sophisticated brew pub menu. Can’t decide which beer to try? Start with the beer paddle and try them all. If you’re not into beer, they have a great selection of wines and drinks. This one is not to be missed!
Prelude
Located atop the 1919 Waterboat House, Prelude is a casual bar with an amazing view of Marina Bay. Situated near museums and the Victoria Concert Hall, and with an almost 360 view, the experience is quite unique among the rooftop bars in Singapore. Because the view is unobstructed, you’re surrounded by the Singapore skyline, and with no buildings to block the breeze, it is much cooler than other rooftop bars. Try the Orchard for a fruity cocktail, or come for Sunset Happy Hour and enjoy 1 for 1 beer every day and daily cocktail specials before 7:00 pm.
Smoke and Mirrors
Located at the top of the National Gallery Museum, Smoke and Mirrors offers an outstanding view of Marina Bay view and great service. From the rooftop, you can even look down on the cricket fields and enjoy a match. Try their handcrafted cocktails, such as the Painting Class, a fruity fizzy cocktail with edible paint on the glass. Ask for a table along the glass for the best views and breeze.
Lantern
With stunning panoramic views of Marina Bay, Lantern offers both atmosphere and great cocktails, such as the Merlion with tequila, lime, ginger, honey and soda, or something from their extensive wine list. Relax poolside and enjoy the breeze in this unparalleled location. Visit on the last Sunday of the month for their St. Tropez Barbecue Brunch and Pool party from 12:30-4.
